If you have been to Monticello or if you want to travel to Monticello, you will love this beautiful book. The photos are fantastic and bring back memories of our trip there. Thomas Jefferson loved fine food and didn't hesitate to travel to other countries to absorb their cuisine. He brought numerous ideas and products back to the United States along with seeds for his gardens and even furniture for his home. This is a lovely book full of information on the cuisine of the time.

This is a lovely book and enchanting to read. Fewer recipes than I had hoped for but lovely just the same. It certainly gives a lovely overview of Monticello and the Jefferson era.

Enjoyed this book and recipes so much that I purchase this book to give friends when visiting and for Holidays! Worthwhile and splendid photography!

If you LOVE history and our Founding Fathers, you will totally enjoy this well-written book. The group of contributors have gone out of their way to keep the facts easily accessible. The background research was important to me, and will be perhaps to you too; extremely thorough. But the recipes...you can recreate them either totally then...or now! Thomas Jefferson was indeed a visionary. A MUST READ!

If you love Monticello and Jefferson, then this is a book to enjoy. the history, photos, and recipes make it a very good read. I purchased the Jefferson presidential china reproductions and enjoyed making some of the dishes from his recipes and this book was very helpful.
