Total Control BBQ Stainless Hinge & Gasket Kit for Weber Smokey Mountain WSM Smoker Grill 18.5 22.5

Background: I bought a new 18" WSM this year. I rad various forums and decided to add these items while it was new and clean, I had no carbon or soot or anything else to deal with.Hinge was easy to put on. Gasket was a little more work but does a great job. I can get 12 hours easy in my 18" WSM on one basket of coals at 225, and still have coals left over for the next smoke. I used the excess sealant to run a bead around the base heating area and the stack area, I also added it on the lip of the door, and on the door to give a better seal.I did two test burns to get the idea of the settings with the modifications I did. I was impressed, and would advise anyone with a new or even older WSM to invest in this. The key will be having everything clean, which may mean for some of you some scrubbing.This product is well worth the money, and elevates your WSM to the next level... better air control. Less fuel consumption.I also went back to my faithful 22" weber grill and put a seal on the bowl and lid. I noticed more control shortly there after.

Love the hinge. Beware there are a few out there a little cheaper that are raw steel and will rust. This one is made with stainless and high quality. It’s larger than you think, but the positive is I can still put the Weber cover over the unit. The one warning I have is it will tip the unit from the bottom section if there is nothing in the smoker due to the weight of the lid.Lava lock is easy to install. There’s definitely less smoke seeping out. It helped keep temps better, but I’m still not getting constant temps throughout the smoke with it.

This kit is fantastic! The hinge is a lifesaver so you don’t have to set the lid down every time you need to check your food, but is still easy to remove for cleaning and moving when needed. And the gasket kit is awesome at keeping in smoke and heat without burning up or wearing out. The hinge can be a little tricky to install because it’ll want to move around and pull the tape back on you as you drill the holes, so make sure to use stronger tape like clear packing tape instead of blue painters tape. The silicone glue used to adhere the gasket kit is very sticky, so use gloves and have mineral spirits handy for cleanup. With that said, my installs worked great, and I couldn’t imagine using my smoker without the hinge and gaskets!

quality made. Seems very solid. I looked at videos on how to install and read the directions. Was a bit apprehensive about drilling into my new SMG, but i'm glad i did. The hinge works great, just as others have reviewed.Worth the purchase.

100% fixed my leaking lid, plus the hinge is a great QoL upgrade! Not a difficult install, but you definitely need the proper tools to succeed and make it look good. There are plenty of online videos of folks installing the kit. The included RTV worked just fine for me, but you need to apply it evenly and thick enough (I used a plastic fork). More than enough fabric gasket provided to re-do the whole thing if you messed it up the first time. I used a heat gun to help speed up the RTV cure process a little bit and then kept the lid off for 24hrs. When I came back to check on it the next day the gasket was firmly attached. The hinge section that attaches to the grill body wasn't exactly a perfect fit for my 18in WSM, so I had to bend it a little to make it sit more flush.

I absolutely love the hinge for my WSM! I mean let’s face it nobody likes taking the lid off, placing it on the ground, getting grass or something on it and then potentially getting into your food! The hinge was a breeze to install, a step drill bit was a huge help for me. The instructions were easy to follow. I love being able to just open the lid with one hand and the locking open aspect of it is great as well. The gasket was super easy to install as well! Perfectly seals up any leaks to keep all that good smoke and heat in!

This is by far one of the best things I have ever purchased for my barbecue addiction. The price seemed steep at first, but once the hinge arrived I was taken back by the extreme quality of the hinge. IT looks nice, it is so well put together, and fit perfectly on my 18" WSM. I have seen reviews where people were concerned that the bracket would not form to the grill, but it absolutely does. As you tighten the nuts down, the bracket will form to the radius of the smaller kettle. It is so much nicer to just lift up on my lid and have it stay in place. I will be purchasing another one for my 22.5" kettle.

Great hinge and gasket set easy install with min tool required a drill and a couple of bits is all you need makes the use of the Smokey mountain that much easier love it don’t think twice just buy it now
